Operations Center

The Operations Center

A continuous command environment for awareness, coordination, and decision support across the McKinley orbital ecosystem.

Command Floor

The primary command floor provides continuous watch coverage with integrated display systems, communications interfaces, and coordinated workstation layout supporting simultaneous awareness of station systems, logistics, traffic, readiness posture, and incident status. Command floor operations run continuously without interruption.

Situational Awareness Systems

MSOC integrates data feeds from life-support, power, thermal, communications, logistics, traffic, environmental monitoring, and safety systems into a unified operational picture. The goal is not simply data access — it is coherent situational awareness enabling coordinated decision-making.

Systems Status Integration

Each major station system category has a dedicated systems status integration feed maintained by the relevant technical team and displayed and tracked through MSOC. Anomalies, degraded modes, and scheduled maintenance windows are tracked centrally to prevent coordination gaps.

Logistics & Mission Coordination Desks

Dedicated coordination desks manage logistics scheduling, cargo routing, provisioning coordination, mission timeline awareness, and interface with visiting vehicle operators. These desks maintain continuous situational awareness of incoming, outgoing, and in-progress logistics activity across the station.

Incident Coordination Cells

During declared incidents, MSOC activates dedicated incident coordination cells within the operations center. These cells integrate cross-functional response team leads, maintain incident status tracking, coordinate resource deployment, and support the Incident Commander with real-time operational intelligence.

Shift Operations and Watch Structure

MSOC operates on a continuous watch structure with defined shift transitions, watch officer responsibilities, status handover protocols, and qualification requirements. Watch coverage ensures that MSOC command capability is never degraded, regardless of planned or unplanned personnel transitions.

Command Information Architecture

The operations center's information architecture is designed for high-reliability, low-distraction command support. Display systems prioritize actionable information over data volume. Communications pathways are structured to minimize unnecessary noise while ensuring that critical information reaches the appropriate decision-makers without delay.
